My Story

As a native Texan growing up in Houston, Rachel was inspired by art and design from a very young age. As an architect's daughter, you could even say that design is in her blood. Rachel is a Texas State University-San Marcos alum with degrees in both Mass Communication- Advertising and Interior Design. She completed a 170 hour internship with renowned commercial and hospitality designer, Leslie Fossler Interiors in 2004. Shortly after, she began working with commercial real estate property management firm, KVA, remodeling multiple office building lobbies. Prior to creating ATX Arranged, Rachel co-founded Project Suite Pea in 2008. As a 501 3-c non profit, Project Suite Pea was dedicated to brightening the lives of children in the foster care system through the transformative power of interior design. As Director of Design & Special Projects, Rachel and her team completed over 30 room makeovers for Starry Emergency Children's Shelter, Texas Baptist Children's Home, The Settlement Home, Helping Hand Children's Home, and Central Texas Table of Grace. In addition to creating dream rooms, Project Suite Pea had the honor is painting several themed murals for exam rooms at Dell Children's Hospital and The Center for Child Protection. Project Suite expanded their mission to create child friendly rooms based on the "room in a bag," concept which they called SuiteCases. Supplying hundreds of "SuiteCases,' to area social workers as a dignified way for children to take things needed to set up their room at their next placement. Each SuiteCase was lovingly packed with brand new bedding, bath towel set, blanket, comfort item, night light and note of encouragement with a name tag for personalization. All perfectly coordinated to match and provide comfort and familiarity in their new home placement. from infant to 18. Each item included was added for a ... "Interior design is so much more than throw pillows and paint. It is truly about creating environments that people feel relaxed, happy, welcome. Illicit a feeling, a response. Design and organization are so important and must be addressed for the other to shine through.
